FWSC to commence Nationwide Payroll Monitoring Exercise to sanitize public sector payroll

The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) has announced that it will begin a Nationwide Payroll Monitoring Exercise next month, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, to clean up the public sector payroll.

The exercise aims to identify and expunge any fraud and anomalies in the payroll and ensure that only approved salaries and allowances are paid.

The Commission has called on all heads of public sector institutions to conduct their own internal payroll audit and clean-up, covering basic salaries and all types of allowances and benefits.

Banks and individuals receiving fraudulent salaries and allowances are also advised to refund same and cease from further fraudulent practices or face the full rigours of the law.
