Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has assured that the House will thoroughly examine claims surrounding the reported $1.7 billion GoldBod losses, saying Parliament will determine whether the amount represents a loss or a cost of operations.
The Speaker made the comments after concerns were raised in Parliament over the financial performance of the Ghana Gold Board.
Mr Bagbin said the matter would receive proper parliamentary scrutiny, stressing that the House would investigate the issues and establish the facts.
The controversy follows claims about losses linked to GoldBod’s operations, with different sides presenting varying interpretations of the figures.
The Minority has pushed for accountability and clarity on the matter, while supporters of GoldBod have argued that the figures require proper context before conclusions are drawn.
Parliament is expected to examine the details and determine whether the reported amount represents an actual financial loss or operational costs associated.
