A speech by guest speaker Mr. Ace Anan Ankomah, who addressed the graduating class, emphasized the importance of education in shaping their futures.
Mr. Ankomah congratulated the graduates, highlighting that this day marks the start of a significant journey beyond the university’s walls. He stressed the theme of the ceremony: “Empowering 21st Century Graduates: Shaping Careers, Values, and Society Through Education and Training.” This theme reflects the need for graduates to be equipped with skills and values that will help them navigate the challenges of modern society.

In his address, Mr. Ankomah spoke to three key groups: the graduates, the university, and the government. He urged graduates to take their education seriously and to use it as a tool for personal and societal growth. He referenced a World Bank report from April 2024, which noted a significant increase in global tertiary education enrollment, yet pointed out that Sub-Saharan Africa still faces challenges, with only 9% of the traditional age group pursuing higher education.
During the ceremony, students were encouraged to take pride in their achievements and to embrace the next chapters of their lives with confidence and purpose. As the graduates prepare to step into the world, Mr. Ankomah’s message serves as a reminder of the responsibilities they carry and the impact they can make in their communities. Distinguished guests, faculty members, families, and friends gathered to support and honor the graduates as they prepared to embark on new opportunities and challenges in their respective fields.
