The significant decisions to fire Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter last season were not driven by TODD BOEHLY.

Behdad Eghbali, a co-owner of Chelsea, is reportedly under “ultimate control” at Stamford Bridge.

Despite Todd Boehly being the face of the new administration, Behdad Eghbali is in “ultimate control” at Chelsea.

Following the £4.25 billion takeover last year, the pair have spent more than $1 billion on transfers in just three transfer windows.

In that time, Chelsea has quickly moved through Frank Lampard, Bruno Saltor, Potter, and Tuchel, and is now on its seventh touchline manager.

The club’s public face, Blues chairman Boehly, is said to have had the ultimate say about the exits of the latter two.

The Telegraph asserts that Eghbali ultimately makes the decisions, though.

He is one of the co-founders of Clearlake Capital, a private equity fund.

The investing group controls an astounding £60 billion in assets and owns 65% of the Chelsea consortium.

It implies that Eghbali has “ultimate control” over the people of London.

And he is said to have been the driving force behind the massive campaign to fire Tuchel a year ago before firing Potter’s replacement a few months later.

Eghbali also spent some time this year in London supervising all of Chelsea’s transfer activities.

He is the main force behind the new approach to sign players younger than 25 along with Boehly.

Eghbali is a strong proponent of long-term agreements to increase market value.

He also doesn’t spare any souls, willingly selling players like Mason Mount in order to collect a transfer fee.
