West Ham United forward Michail Antonio has voiced his support for teammate Mohammed Kudus, who is currently sidelined due to an extended suspension. Kudus, a Ghanaian international and key midfielder for the Black Stars, received a red card in West Ham’s match against Tottenham on October 19 following a clash with Spurs players.
Originally given a three-game suspension, Kudus saw his penalty increased to five games by the English FA, alongside a £60,000 fine. This means he will miss key matches for West Ham, including games against Manchester United, Nottingham Forest, and Everton, as well as upcoming fixtures against Newcastle United on November 25 and Arsenal on November 30.
Antonio highlighted Kudus’ exceptional talent, saying, “Starboy, his quality to be fair, he’s an unbelievable player. How he dribbles, he scores goals, he has great ambition for himself, and hopefully, we can get some players like that from our academy.” Acknowledging the setback, Antonio added, “He’s a great miss. He is a quality player and someone we definitely need in our starting lineup.”
Despite the suspension, Kudus remains active in training with the Black Stars in Accra as they prepare for their final two Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Ghana will face Angola in Luanda on November 15, followed by a home match against Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium on November 18.
