Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface survived a serious car accident on Sunday while on his way to the airport.
The 23-year-old Nigerian international’s Mercedes Benz collided with a truck on the A3 highway between Bad Camberg and Idstein.
Boniface shared a video on his Instagram story showing his damaged car and his bloodied hand following the crash.
Despite the harrowing experience, the striker expressed gratitude, writing, “God is the greatest.”
The accident occurred just hours after Boniface scored the winning goal in Leverkusen’s 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.
He was reportedly on his way to pick up friends from the airport when the accident happened.
Fortunately, Bayer Leverkusen confirmed that Boniface did not sustain any major injuries.
“He is fine. Boniface only had two minor injuries to his hand,” the club stated, according to German outlet Bild.
Boniface’s quick recovery has been met with relief by his fans and teammates, as he continues to be a key player for the Bundesliga title contenders.
