During the Good Friday service at the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) Redemption Congregation in Tema Community nine, Rev. Samuel Anang Ofoli, the Minister-in-charge, called on Christians to “die with Christ” as they remembered his crucifixion.
Rev. Ofoli explained that dying with Christ means having a thirst for the work of God and maintaining good relationships with one another. He emphasized that it is not enough for Christians to simply commemorate the death of Jesus Christ every year without making sacrifices for others.
Rev. Ofoli stressed that Christians cannot die with Christ if they fail to forgive one another. He urged Christians and mankind to not let the suffering of Jesus on the cross be in vain and to always be in tune with God. He explained that the death of Christ signifies God’s love for humanity and the power of God to save man. Rev. Ofoli added that it shows that the love of God is wonderful beyond the comprehension of man.
Rev. Ofoli reminded the congregation that since they did not contribute anything towards their salvation, it is deserving that people humble themselves at the foot of the cross for all the work God did for the human race. During the service, church members attended in mourning clothes to signify their mood of grief, and the last seven statements of Jesus Christ on the cross over 2000 years ago were read and explained to the members.
