The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mr. Francis Osei Nsiah, has called on all eligible voters to adequately prepare for the upcoming general elections. He emphasized the importance of ensuring a smooth and inclusive voting process during an interview on Oyerepa TV.
Targeting High Voter Turnout
Mr. Nsiah revealed that the EC is aiming for an 80% voter participation rate, expressing optimism about achieving this goal given the enthusiasm exhibited by Ghanaians. He urged voters to take proactive steps in preparation for the December 6 elections.
Locate Your Voter ID Cards
A key part of this preparation, according to Mr. Nsiah, is ensuring the availability of voter ID cards before election day.
“The voter ID card is crucial for easy verification at the polling station,” he noted. He explained that having the card readily available ensures a faster and more efficient voting process.
Assistance for Lost ID Cards
Addressing concerns about misplaced voter ID cards, Mr. Nsiah reassured citizens that such situations would not prevent them from voting.
“If you lose your ID card, don’t panic. Simply head to your polling station, and as long as your details are in the voter register, our officials will assist you in casting your vote,” he stated.
Call to Action
The Ashanti EC Chair concluded by urging voters to prioritize their civic responsibility, reminding them that their participation is key to shaping the nation’s future.
