Flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has noted with sadness the fact that over 800,000 Ghanaians have been pushed below the poverty line by the current government.

He says Ghana is currently bankrupt with a collapsed economy; a situation that can be blamed on poor leadership for almost eight years under Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

What’s worrying according to the former President is the government’s failure to accept responsibility.

John Dramani Mahama was speaking at the 8th CEOs Summit in Accra on Monday, May 27, 2024 when he made this known to the people of Ghana.

He said “Today, we stand at a critical and troubling crossroads. Our beloved country has become a bankrupt and collapsed economy due to the poor leadership of almost eight years.

This leadership has failed Ghanaians and yet refuses to accept or even take responsibility for the most reckless management of our economy in known history.

This has plunged our nation into an unprecedented economic crisis and pushed more than eight hundred thousand (800,000) Ghanaians below the poverty line”.
