Ghana coach Otto Addo names Medeama and Samartex as early title contenders for the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League
Ghana’s Head Coach, Otto Addo, has identified Medeama SC and FC Samartex as his early picks to contend for the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League title. The former Black Stars forward shared this view after attending Medeama’s match against Legon Cities, which ended in a 1-0 victory for the Mauve and Yellows at the Legon Stadium.
Addo also observed Samartex in action last month, watching them lift the 2024 Ghana Super Cup after defeating Nsoatreman at the newly renovated TNA Stadium. That same day, he witnessed Medeama narrowly lose on penalties to Basake Holy Stars in the Apinto Cup final.
“From what I’ve seen of Medeama and Samartex, they are performing well,” Addo told reporters after the Medeama vs. Legon Cities clash. “So maybe it’s between these two, but I haven’t watched all the teams yet. I’m also eager to see Kotoko, Hearts of Oak, and the other strong teams, and then we’ll have a clearer picture.”
While Addo refrained from making any definitive predictions about the league winner, he emphasized his plans to attend more Ghana Premier League games this season to scout for home-grown talent.
Medeama currently sit atop the league table with six points, having won their first two matches, while Samartex have a game in hand following a draw in their opening fixture.
