Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia Denies Allegations of Favoritism Toward Fulani Herdsmen as NPP Flagbearer
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, has dismissed claims that his presidency would allow Fulani herdsmen to harm farmlands. He described these assertions as propaganda by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing the opposition of spreading fears that his leadership would encourage lawlessness among the Fulbe people, to whom he is related by marriage.
While addressing supporters in Ejura Sekyedumase on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, Dr. Bawumia assured constituents that, if elected, he would ensure Ghana’s laws are applied fairly and equally to all citizens, irrespective of their background.
“The NDC is pushing propaganda that my presidency would permit Fulani herdsmen to destroy farmlands, but that will never happen. It’s all propaganda—we will never allow such things to occur,” he stated.
