Leader and flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has stated that his government, if elected into power, will surely delve into the Cecelia Dapaah alleged graft case.

Taking to his official X page, Mr. mahama wrote, “My government will reopen investigations into the alleged acts of corruption and graft in the Cecelia Dapaah case’’.

It is recalled that, two persons with names patience Botwe and Sarah Agyei, 18 and 30 respectively, were arrested and charged with five counts of stealing and conspiracy to commit crime by the court. It was said that, they allegedly stole monies to the tune of millions of Ghana cedis between the July and October 2022.

The reports gathered revealed that the said monies, which included foreign currencies were found in the bedroom of the former Sanitation minister who had reported the criminal case to the police for which the two ladies and other suspects were picked up.

Madam Cecelia Abena Dapaah has been subjected to rigorous investigation by the office of the Special Prosecutor who had placed an embargo on the latter’s account.

The OSP later referred the case to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) for a money laundering investigation. But the office of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice advised EOCO not to start the money laundering investigations leveled against the former Sanitation minister.

The Attorney General’s reason for the advice revealed that, there was no evidence of financial gains to that effect, which the office believes is the basis for that investigation.

The A-G further added that the Criminal Investigation Department is investigating into the Criminal aspect of the case, thus, advising EOCO not to engage in any investigation to that effect.

In sequel to this, former President John Mahama noted that his President will not countenance any act of corruption, hence the NDC government will reopen the Cecelia Dapaah case to ensure that all corrupt officials are prosecuted.
