On Ideal FM 96.7’s morning show Ghana Wonsom, hosted by B.I.C. Abeiku, Nai Ampem Darko shared insightful commentary on the roles and responsibilities of Members of Parliament (MPs) and chiefs within the political landscape. During the discussion, he expressed concerns about how MPs often mislead the public by making promises that are outside their official duties.

Nai Ampem Darko emphasized that the primary role of MPs is to make laws for the benefit of the people. However, many MPs promise to construct infrastructure, such as roads, schools, and hospitals, to win the trust and votes of their constituents. These promises, he noted, often go unfulfilled, as they fall outside the scope of an MP’s responsibilities. “They do this just to win the people’s trust,” Nai Ampem Darko remarked, calling for greater accountability and clarity about what MPs are truly able to deliver.

Additionally, he urged chiefs and town leaders to refrain from getting involved in partisan politics. He stressed that chiefs, as neutral custodians of tradition and community welfare, should ensure that political parties’ plans and policies align with the best interests of their towns. Nai Ampem Darko advocated for chiefs to hold political leaders accountable for their promises without becoming directly involved in the political process.
