NACOC Receives Advanced Drug Detection Equipment Worth £56,752 to Strengthen Ghana’s Fight Against Narcotics Trafficking

The Agilent Resolve Raman Analyzer, a cutting-edge device, will enable law enforcement officers to swiftly and safely identify suspected narcotic substances during operations. This technology allows officers to conduct on-site tests, eliminating the need to transport samples to laboratories, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and safety.

The Regional Manager for West Africa at HOIO, Ian Cunliffe, presented the equipment at a brief ceremony in Accra, emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration in combating organized crime. He highlighted the role of NACOC officers in protecting both Ghana and the broader region, acknowledging their vital contributions to law enforcement.

Mr. Cunliffe praised the longstanding partnership between HOIO and NACOC, which has been built on trust and professionalism. He also noted the collaboration between HOIO and the National Crime Agency (NCA) in tackling cross-border criminal activities.

Receiving the donation on behalf of NACOC, Deputy Director-General for Enforcement, Control, and Elimination, Alexander Twum-Barimah, expressed gratitude for the support and recognized the significant impact the device will have on enhancing NACOC’s operational capacity.

He also underscored the importance of continued cooperation with international partners in addressing the evolving challenges of organized crime. Mr. Twum-Barimah appealed for further support in the form of specialized training for NACOC personnel, particularly for intelligence and undercover officers, to strengthen their effectiveness in confronting sophisticated drug trafficking networks.
