Member of Parliament for Cape Coast South Constituency in the Central Region, Kweku George Ricketts-Hagan says Parliament approved the Ministerial Nominees because some of his colleagues sabotaged their own leadership led by Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.

The allegation by Mr Ricketts-Hagan comes at the back of  Parliamentary voting yesterday which saw the approval of  the nomination of the new ministers appointed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

This means that the Adansi Asokwa MP, K.T Hammond will fully become the Minister of Trade and Industry after he is sworn into office by the President with the Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, Dr. Stephen Amoah serving as his deputy.

Same applies to Bryan Acheampong, Minister-designate for Food and Agriculture, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, Minister-designate for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mr Osei Bonsu Amoah, Minister of State-designate at the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development and Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, Minister of State-designate at the Ministry of Finance.

Meanwhile, before voting, the Minority in Parliament in an attempt to reduce government size stated categorically that, they were not going to approve of the newly ministers nominated by President Akufo-Addo.

Responding to this on TV3 in a discussion, Hon Ricketts-Hagan alleged that, the new Minority leadership in Parliament were sabotaged.

“It’s about sabotage; sabotage of the new Executives”, he alleged.

According to him, after Friday night’s elections in parliament, he realized that there are still few people in Parliament who are still not happy with the decision by the party (NDC) to make change in leadership especially the manner at which it was made.

“We have a few people or many when you look at the vote, you know what happened in parliament when we had changes in leadership and you know some people were not happy”. Hon Ricketts-Hagan alleged.

According to him, Some Members of Parliament felt that there should have been some consultation earlier on before that decision and that, they were not against the new leaders coming in led by Hon Ato Forson but rather the manner in which the party carried out the exercise
