On 13th May 2026, President John Dramani Mahama commissioned Ghana’s Ambassadors-designate to Japan and Ethiopia, Mr. Humphery Chatio Ajongba and H.E. Mr. McArios Akanbeanab Akanbong, respectively. As part of the formal proceedings, the envoys took the Oaths of Allegiance, Office, and Secrecy.
In his address, President Mahama urged the ambassadors to leverage their extensive experience as career diplomats to further strengthen Ghana’s longstanding relations with their host countries. He emphasized the importance of results-oriented diplomacy aimed at delivering tangible economic benefits to the people of Ghana.
Highlighting the significant tasks that lie ahead, the President expressed confidence in their ability to perform their duties effectively. In response, H.E. Mr. McArios Akanbeanab Akanbong, speaking on behalf of both himself and Mr. Humphery Chatio Ajongba, thanked the President for the nomination and the trust placed in them. He also commended the government for Ghana’s notable economic growth and pledged to serve the nation diligently in their diplomatic roles.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by key officials, including Chief of Staff Hon. Julius Debrah, Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations) Mr. Stanislav Xoese Dogbe, Presidential Adviser and Special Aide Mrs. Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and Ambassador Khadija Iddrisu, Chief Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
