West Ham United have announced that Julen Lopetegui will take over as the club’s new manager, replacing David Moyes. The Spanish manager has signed a three-year deal with the Hammers and will begin his tenure on June 1st.
Lopetegui, 56, has a wealth of experience in management, having previously coached Porto, Real Madrid, and Sevilla. He led Sevilla to Europa League glory in 2020 and has a reputation for playing attractive, attacking football.
“I’m thrilled to be joining West Ham United,” Lopetegui said in a statement. “The club has a rich history and a passionate fan base, and I’m excited to bring my brand of football to the Premier League.”
Lopetegui’s appointment marks a new era for West Ham, who have struggled for consistency in recent seasons. The club’s owners, David Sullivan and David Gold, believe that Lopetegui has the credentials to take the team to the next level.
