Interior Minister Honoured by Ghana Optometric Association for Championing Eye Health

The Minister for the Interior has been recognised with an honorary membership of the Ghana Optometric Association (GOA) for his unwavering commitment to promoting eye health in the country.

The special honour was conferred during the Association’s 13th Annual General Meeting, held at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.

With a membership of about 500 optometry professionals, the GOA commended the Minister for his impactful role in supporting eye care initiatives. The Association also pledged to deepen its collaboration with him through his Annual Free Eye Screening Exercise.

This flagship initiative, which currently serves all electoral areas in the Asawase Constituency, is set to expand this year to 12 additional constituencies in the Ashanti Region.

To mark the occasion, the Minister was presented with a commemorative plaque in appreciation of his dedicated partnership with the Association.

Expressing his gratitude, he shared personal stories that underscored the importance of accessible healthcare and urged optometrists to always put Ghana first in their service to humanity.

The evening ended on a joyful note when the Ghana Prisons Service Band surprised the Minister with a birthday serenade, adding a personal touch to the prestigious recognition.
