The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, has rejected claims that the institution is recording losses, insisting that the organisation remains financially sound.

According to him, individuals hoping to see GoldBod fail will be disappointed because the Board is operating successfully and delivering on its mandate.

“GoldBod has no losses. Those wishing we make losses will be laughing at the wrong side of their mouth,” Mr Gyamfi said.

Speaking during a Space conversation on X on Sunday, August 9, 2026, the GoldBod CEO said the institution’s operations were focused on strengthening Ghana’s gold sector, supporting small-scale miners and ensuring the country benefits more from its mineral resources.

He said GoldBod’s interventions, including efforts to formalise small-scale mining, improve gold traceability and support the fight against illegal mining, were part of measures to maximise the value Ghana derives from gold.

Mr Gyamfi also highlighted the Board’s involvement in environmental restoration efforts, including support for reclaiming lands and forest reserves affected by illegal mining activities.

He urged the public to give GoldBod the necessary time to implement its programmes, stressing that transforming the gold sector requires sustainable and long-term measures.

The GoldBod CEO maintained that the institution remains committed to achieving its objectives and contributing to Ghana’s economic growth.
