Ghana’s Foreign Minister attends UN conference on Least Developed Countries

Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, is participating in the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5) in Doha, Qatar from March 5th to 9th, 2023.

 

The objective of the conference is to develop an ambitious new program for action for the Least Developed Countries, with a focus on implementing the Istanbul Programme of Action (IPoA), mobilizing additional international support measures, and renewing the partnership between LDCs and their development partners to overcome structural challenges and eradicate poverty.

 

During the conference’s General Debate, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey highlighted the urgent need for multilateral efforts to address the extreme climate vulnerabilities and global debt crisis facing many LDCs, pledging Ghana’s firm commitment to global efforts in this regard.
