FIFA Gives Hearts of Oak 30 Days to Pay GHC 106,000 to Former Player

FIFA has issued a 30-day ultimatum to Hearts of Oak to pay over GHC 106,000 to ex-player Francis Adjetey, following a ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) dated February 26, 2025.

The CAS ruling, which came after Adjetey challenged the GFA Appeals Committee’s dismissal of his case, ordered Hearts of Oak to pay the sum with 5% annual interest backdated to September 15, 2023, for unfair contract termination.

In addition, Hearts of Oak and the GFA are required to jointly cover CHF 1,000 in legal fees.

FIFA, in a letter dated June 10, 2025, declared the CAS ruling final and binding, warning that failure to comply will result in 20% of the GFA’s next FIFA Forward payment being withheld, with possible further sanctions.

This financial setback adds to the club’s ongoing troubles, as Hearts of Oak is already under a transfer ban for owing $70,000 to New Edubiase United over the transfer of Salim Adams.
