Antoine Semenyo expressed his delight after Manchester City delivered a stunning 4-0 quarter-final victory over Liverpool, effectively ending their FA Cup campaign on Saturday, 4th April 2026, at the Etihad Stadium.
The 26-year-old winger, who has quickly become a key figure in Pep Guardiola’s attacking setup since his £64 million move from Bournemouth in January, played a pivotal role as City continued their pursuit of a potential domestic cup double.
In a post-match interview with TNT Sports, a beaming Semenyo praised the collective effort, stating that the team’s recent Carabao Cup victory had fueled their hunger for more success. Instead of resting on their laurels, City used their Wembley triumph as a springboard for this crucial FA Cup clash.
“Feels amazing. The team played really well today,” Semenyo said. “We wanted to continue from the Carabao Cup final, and we did that today. We said once we’re back, we wanted to score goals and defend as a team, and we did that perfectly.”
While Erling Haaland stole the headlines with a clinical hat-trick, it was Semenyo who delivered the decisive blow early in the second half. Receiving a well-timed pass from Rayan Cherki, the Black Stars forward coolly slotted the ball into the net, making it 3-0 and effectively silencing the Liverpool supporters in attendance.
But the victory wasn’t just about attacking brilliance. It was a well-rounded tactical performance, highlighted by goalkeeper James Trafford’s world-class penalty save at 1-0, which kept City ahead and demonstrated the team’s defensive resilience.
Semenyo’s goal marked his 18th of the season across all competitions, a remarkable tally for a player who only joined the club three months ago. His seamless integration into “Pep-ball” has impressed pundits, as his physicality and intelligent movement have added a new dimension to City’s play, offering a directness that had been lacking earlier in the season.
With Manchester City still competing for multiple trophies as the 2025/26 season enters its final stretch, Semenyo’s sizzling form is proving to be the “X-factor” in their pursuit of yet another silverware-filled campaign.
