A section of football fans at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi booed and jeered Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku.
The incident happened in the aftermath of Ghana’s National Men’s Under 23 Football Team, the Black Meteors, 1-0 win over Algeria.
The win secures Ghana’s place at the CAF U-23 AFCON tournament set to be played in Morocco from June 24 to July 8, 2023 with eight teams competing for three qualification spots to the 2024 Olympic Games.
A group of fans gathered at the Baba Yara Stadium booed the GFA President as he walked past them with his entourage after the win while others were heard shouting “Away, Away” in the direction of the veteran football administrator.
In the lead up to the incident, fans of Kumasi-based Asante Kotoko Sporting Club have had a thorny relationship with Kurt Okraku’s administration over what they believe to be unfair targeted officiating by referees appointed for betPawa Ghana Premier League games.
