The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has frozen several properties belonging to Dennis Aboagye, popularly known as “Miracles”, and another individual, Gerald Appiah, as part of investigations into an alleged GH¢55 million financial case.
The frozen assets reportedly include a seven-bedroom house at Adjiringanor, an undeveloped parcel of land at Adjiringanor, and a 15-acre piece of land located at another area. EOCO’s action forms part of efforts to preserve suspected assets connected to ongoing investigations.
EOCO, which is mandated to investigate serious economic and organised crimes and recover proceeds suspected to be linked to criminal activities, has secured freezing orders as investigations continue.
The office earlier announced the arrest of Dennis Aboagye and Gerald Appiah in connection with investigations into alleged financial irregularities involving the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD).
The freezing of the properties means the assets cannot be sold, transferred or otherwise disposed of until the investigations and any related legal processes are concluded.
EOCO says the move is part of its mandate to prevent the dissipation of suspected proceeds of crime while it works to establish ownership, source of funds used in acquiring the properties and any possible breaches of the law.
The suspects are expected to face due legal processes as investigations continue.
