The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, says ongoing reforms in the education sector are focused on equipping young Ghanaians with the skills needed to drive the country’s future development.
He announced that a revised curriculum for Kindergarten to Junior High School (JHS) is expected to be presented to the Ministry of Education this week. The new curriculum will introduce areas such as coding, artificial intelligence, electronics, and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
Speaking at the Government Accountability Series in Accra on Monday, July 20, the Minister also disclosed plans to expand access to medical education, drawing inspiration from recent changes introduced in legal education under the Legal Education Act, 2026.
According to Haruna Iddrisu, increasing opportunities in professional training will help develop the skilled workforce required to support Ghana’s long-term economic growth.
He added that the reforms are part of government’s broader efforts to create more pathways for young people to pursue careers in critical sectors of the economy.
