ECG Disconnects Power to 310 Customers for Unpaid Bills in Tema Region

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Tema Regional Office has disconnected the power supply to 310 customers who failed to pay their electricity bills.

The disconnections took place within the first two weeks of the company’s nationwide revenue mobilisation programme, which commenced on March 20, 2023, and is scheduled to end on April 20, 2023.

Mr Emmanuel Ankomah, the ECG Tema Regional General Manager, disclosed that the 310 disconnected customers were part of a total of 2,344 customers visited during the period, including individuals and small, medium, and large-scale organizations.

Although revenue mobilisation is a routine aspect of ECG’s operations, Mr Ankomah stated that the special exercise involved the participation of the entire management team and all back-end staff, including the Board of Directors.

Mr Ankomah urged customers to settle their debts and pay their bills promptly to avoid disconnection and debt accumulation. He recommended making all cash and cheque payments at ECG offices and banks or through the phone short code *226#. Furthermore, he cautioned customers not to pay any ECG staff in the field.

The revenue mobilisation exercise will continue, and Mr Ankomah expressed hope that more customers would settle their debts owed to the ECG.
