Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has parted ways with Ghana after a short spell in charge, delivering an emotional farewell message that calls for major improvements in the country’s football development systems.

In a Facebook post, Queiroz reflected on his tenure, noting that football teaches the principle that “you either win or you learn.” He said he leaves with pride in the progress made but also with “healthy dissatisfaction,” stressing that more could have been achieved.

“I leave this journey with pride in what we achieved, but also with the healthy dissatisfaction of those who always wanted more,” he wrote, adding that reaching a higher level should only mark “the beginning of even greater ambitions.”

He emphasized that the Black Stars’ future success depends not only on on-field performance but also on strong off-field structures, including preparation, player development, and institutional support.

“The future of the Black Stars will not be built only on the pitch. Success must start off the field, by creating the best possible environment to prepare, protect and develop Ghana’s extraordinary football talent,” he stated.

Queiroz expressed gratitude to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for the opportunity to lead the national team, and praised his players and technical team for their commitment and professionalism.

“To my players and staff, my deepest gratitude for your courage, commitment and unwavering dedication,” he added.

He also acknowledged the fans, saying while the team did not achieve full sporting satisfaction, they worked to restore respect and credibility to the Black Stars on the global stage.

“To the fans, we cannot claim complete sporting satisfaction, but we can proudly say that we honoured the colours of Ghana,” he said.

Queiroz was appointed on April 23, 2026, on a short-term contract ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, following the exit of Otto Addo. However, Ghana’s campaign ended in disappointment after a 1-0 defeat to Colombia in the Round of 32.
