The District Chief Executive for the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District, Hon. Andrews Kojo Duodu, has called on Ghanaians to embrace patriotism, discipline, integrity and selfless service as the country works towards achieving sustainable development under the government’s national reset agenda.
He stressed that the transformation of Ghana cannot be achieved by government policies alone but requires a collective change in attitude, a renewed sense of responsibility, and an unwavering commitment to the national interest.
Speaking at the National Prayer and Thanksgiving Day celebration held at the Church of Pentecost, Bisease Central and English Assembly in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District, Hon. Andrews Kojo Duodu urged public office holders, politicians and citizens alike to reject corruption and uphold honesty in both public and private life.
According to him, corruption continues to rob the nation of critical resources needed for development, and unless Ghanaians collectively decide to fight the canker, the country’s progress will continue to be affected.
Touching on the recent flooding that affected several communities across the country, the DCE said the disaster should serve as a wake-up call for Ghanaians to change their attitudes towards environmental sanitation.
He appealed to residents to stop dumping refuse into drains and rivers, avoid building on waterways and flood-prone areas, and actively participate in communal labour to keep their communities clean.
He disclosed that the Assembly is implementing numerous development projects through the District Assemblies Common Fund and other government interventions aimed at improving the quality of life of residents.
According to him, the projects include the construction and rehabilitation of classroom blocks, CHPS compounds, teachers’ and nurses’ bungalows, roads, mechanized boreholes, markets and other critical infrastructure across various communities within the district.
Hon. Andrews Kojo Duodu assured residents that the Assembly remains committed to ensuring the equitable distribution of development projects across the district and pledged that more communities would benefit from government interventions in the coming years.
He encouraged the youth to remain law-abiding, work hard, acquire employable skills and avoid acts of violence, drug abuse and other social vices capable of undermining the district’s development.
Hon. Andrews Kojo Duodu concluded by encouraging Christians and all residents of the district to remain hopeful, united and committed to supporting government initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of the people.
He expressed confidence that through unity, discipline, integrity, the fight against corruption, hard work and God’s guidance, the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District and Ghana as a whole will witness accelerated socio-economic development and lasting prosperity.
