The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Georges Gatogato from Burundi as the referee for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier between Angola and Ghana.

The match will be held at Estadio 11 de Novembro in Luanda, Angola, on Friday, November 15, 2024.

Gatogato, 36, has been a FIFA-listed referee since 2007 and brings extensive experience from officiating various CAF competitions, including the AFCON qualifiers, CAF Champions League, and CAF Confederation Cup.

An urban engineer by profession, Gatogato officiated at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt, earning recognition for his performances.

He will be joined by fellow Burundians Rénovat Bizumuremyi as Assistant Referee I, Olivier Nibogora as Assistant Referee II, and Rodrigue Bigirimana as the Fourth Official.

Gervasio Domingos Juliao de Jesus Maria from Mozambique will serve as the Match Commissioner, with South African Victor Miguel de Freitas Gomes as the Referee Assessor.

The qualifier is crucial for Ghana, who need a win to keep their slim AFCON hopes alive after collecting only two points from four games.
