BKB’s REPORT

Tension is high at Obaatampa Radio in Kasoa after the Central Regional Chairman of the NDC, Prof. Richard Asiedu, and the Municipal Chief Executive for Awutu Senya East, Seth Banini, allegedly stormed the station with a group of party supporters and ordered its closure.
More than 40 police officers from the Central Regional Police Command have reportedly been deployed to the station to maintain law and order.
According to reports, the Regional Minister, the MCE, and the Municipal NADMO Director accused the station of accepting money to air comments perceived to be against the NDC in the Awutu Senya East Constituency.
Speaking in an interview, the Morning Show Producer of Obaatampa Radio, Kweku Mireku, alleged that Prof. Asiedu became angry over comments made on the station suggesting that he was fueling the ongoing conflict between the constituency chairman and the Member of Parliament.
Mr. Mireku claimed that following the comments, Prof. Asiedu and the MCE arrived at the station with a group of built men allegedly intending to confront and assault the programme host before locking up the facility.
He further alleged that the Regional Chairman slapped him and tore his shirt after accusing him of recording a video of the incident.

Meanwhile, the host of the station’s morning show, Kyei Baafo, who was also reportedly assaulted during the incident, narrated his account of what transpired.
