Former Minister for Trade and Industry under the Mahama administration and a staunch member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mr Ekwow Spio-Gabrah has criticised the current Akufo-Addo government saying they over promised and now under delivering their promises to Ghanaians.

“I think the Akufo-Addo government simply over promised and is under delivering”, Mr Spio-Gabrah stated.

According to the former Ghana Ambassador to the United States, it is an open secret that all political parties during campaign period make promises during their tour and in their manifestos, but current government between 2016 and 2019 made so many promises they could never keep.

“All governments are expected by the electorate to tell them what the government can do when they come to power. But if you take the Nana Addo/ Bawumia to 2016 when they were coming to power you can hear those sloganeering one this one that and people made fun of it.” Mr Spio-Gabrah told TV Africa in an exclusive interview monitored by MyNewsGH.com.

He further described promises made by the NPP as “interesting” but admitted that the Akufo-Addo led government’s performance in the first term was a bit impressive as compared to their second term adding that, some individuals in the government have decided not to perform because it is time for the president to exit power.
