Abronoma foundation celebrates Menstrual Hygiene Day with Students in Jaman north, distributes sanitary pads to them

May 28 of every year is considered a Menstrual Hygiene Day which is celebrated across the globe to ensure the eradication of tales and misapprehensions about menstruation among women.

The Chief Executive Officer of Abronoma Foundation an NGO, Mrs. Linda Nyarko Yeboah, in collaboration with the Jaman North district Education directorate in the Bono region in the pursuit to reduce the myths and menstrual intimidation the girl-child passed through during menstruation in school-going days has distributed Sanitary pads and offered comprehensive education to female school-going children within selected Senior High Schools in the Jaman North district of the Bono region.

 

Speaking in an interview with Mrs. Linda Nyarko Yeboah during the presentation, she indicated that it is very essential to consider the menstrual hygiene of the girl-child in the country because they sometimes find it difficult to get access to sanitary pads when they menstruate due to low knowledge on its usage and poor financial background of others.

 

She bemoaned how these young ones end up using outmoded materials in place of sanitary pads which may lead to life threatening health issues hence the decision of the NGO to partner with the Education directorate to offer advice and donate sanitary pads as part of the Menstrual hygiene day celebration last Sunday, May 28, 2023.

She finally pleaded with parents to show greater concern for the menstrual issues of their female wards to keep them safe from being impregnated by men who may use the purchase of sanitary pads as a yardstick to have sexual intimacy with them.

 

She also cautioned the young men who use sanitary pads as a yardstick to have sexual affairs with the girl-children to put a stop to that because it will cause them a lot when they get them pregnant.
