C/R: 20 SUSPECTED BREAST CANCER CASES IDENTIFIED DURING FREE SCREENING IN KASOA

Twenty suspected breast cancer cases have been recorded following a free breast cancer screening exercise in Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region.

More than 200 people participated in the screening exercise, which was organised by the Awutu Senya East New Patriotic Party (NPP) Women’s Wing to help residents assess their breast health and promote early detection of the disease.

Speaking to *BKB* Dr. Martina Awo Afrifa Appiah, Medical Superintendent of the Kasoa Polyclinic, disclosed that between 20 and 30 women who participated in the exercise had suspicious findings in one of their breasts.

She said the affected women had been advised to undergo further medical examinations to confirm their conditions and receive appropriate treatment where necessary.

Dr. Afrifa Appiah also urged women to make regular breast examinations a priority, stressing the importance of early detection in improving treatment outcomes.

Meanwhile, the Awutu Senya East NPP Women’s Organizer, Mrs. Vida Kobbina, described breast cancer as a deadly disease that must be taken seriously.

She called on the public to support breast cancer awareness and encouraged men to help their partners become more conscious of their breast health throughout the year rather than waiting until October, which is observed as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
