GOMOA–NEW WINNEBA CLASH: POLICE CONFIRM SIX ARREST, THREE DEAD AND 19 INJURED AS CALM IS RESTORED

The Central Regional Police Commander, DCOP George Bossman Ohene Boadi, has called for calm among residents of Gomoa and New Winneba following a clash over a land dispute.

The Police Commander confirmed that six people have been arrested in connection with the incident, while three people have died and 19 others sustained injuries.

DCOP George Bossman Ohene Boadi disclosed the figures after visiting the Trauma and Specialist Hospital alongside the Central Regional Minister to assess the situation and interact with some of the victims.

Speaking to the media, he said the six suspects would be put before the court to face prosecution.

He said calm has now been restored through the efforts of the police and other security agencies, urging residents in the affected communities to cooperate with the security agencies to protect lives and property.

Meanwhile, the Central Regional Minister, Hon. Ekow Panyin Okyere Eduamoah, has also appealed to residents in the affected communities to remain calm and exercise restraint while security agencies work to restore lasting peace and prevent further escalation.

He assured residents that the necessary steps would be taken to address the situation and ensure the safety and security of people in the affected areas.
