The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with a robbery attack at Gomoa Dominase in the Central Region, which resulted in the death of a 30-year-old mobile money vendor.
The incident occurred on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
According to the Police, investigations into the robbery intensified after an iPhone 13 Pro belonging to the deceased was reportedly activated following the incident.
Police intelligence subsequently led to the arrest of Isaac Baffoe, alias Kwame Cheddo, who is suspected to be a member of the robbery gang. He was arrested at Kwesimintsim in Takoradi in the Western Region on June 26, 2026.
A search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of the stolen iPhone 13 Pro, which had allegedly been concealed inside an iPhone 17 safety phone case, together with other mobile phone accessories.
During interrogation, Isaac Baffoe reportedly led investigators to Prince Tawiah Baidoo, a phone technician at Kwesimintsim.
Police say Prince Tawiah Baidoo admitted repairing the stolen iPhone at a cost of GH¢2,650, during which he replaced the phone’s motherboard, Face ID component and camera sensors.
A subsequent search at his premises led to the recovery of a box containing the original components removed from the deceased’s iPhone.
Meanwhile, the Central East Regional Police Command says it has intensified efforts to identify and arrest the remaining members of the robbery gang, as well as other persons connected to the handling of the stolen iPhone.
