The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released funds to Senior High Schools (SHSs) and Senior High Technical Schools (SHTSs) for the purchase of perishable food items to support second and third-year students.
In a letter dated July 15, 2026, and addressed to all Regional Directors of Education, the Service announced that payments covering the period from March 1 to September 4, 2026, have been transferred to the accounts of various second-cycle schools across the country.
The directive, signed by the Deputy Director-General for Quality and Assurance, Dr. Munawaru Issahaque, on behalf of the Director-General, instructed Regional Directors to inform heads of SHSs and SHTSs that the funds are now available.
According to GES, the money is strictly meant for the procurement of perishable food items for SHS 2 and SHS 3 students to support their feeding needs.
School heads have also been directed to submit official receipts covering the funds received to the Director-General through their respective Regional Accountants.
The Ghana Education Service expressed confidence in the cooperation of Regional Directors and school authorities to ensure the effective implementation of the directive.
