Sports Minister Kofi Adams has clarified that Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz has not officially resigned from his position.
Adams said the government and the Ghana Football Association can only act on formal communication and not comments or messages shared on social media.
He explained that Queiroz was not appointed through social media and therefore cannot be considered to have resigned through a social media post.
The Sports Minister added that the next step is for Queiroz to submit a comprehensive technical report on Ghana’s performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will help assess the team’s strengths, weaknesses and future direction.
Adams also agreed with Queiroz’s view that the Black Stars need rebuilding after their World Cup campaign, stressing that any decisions about the team’s technical future will be based on consultations and a review of the coach’s report.
Ghana advanced to the knockout stage of the expanded 48-team tournament but exited after a 1-0 defeat to Colombia in the Round of 32, leaving uncertainty over Queiroz’s future with the national team.
