Residents of Dominase joined the District Chief Executive for Gomoa East District, Naana Ackom, in a tree-planting exercise held at the Dominase D/A Basic School as part of the ongoing Tree for Life Initiative.
The exercise brought together community members, students, teachers, and stakeholders who planted various tree seedlings to support environmental conservation and promote a greener future.
Speaking at the event, DCE for Gomoa East Naana Ackom encouraged residents to take good care of the trees planted and emphasized the importance of protecting the environment for future generations.
Also speaking at the programme, Hasnaw Hashim, District Director of Agriculture for Gomoa East, noted that the tree-planting exercise was timely as it coincides with the rainy season, which provides favorable conditions for the growth and survival of the seedlings.
According to her , planting trees during the rainy period increases their chances of survival and helps restore the environment, improve air quality, and combat the effects of climate change. she urged residents to nurture the trees to maturity so that future generations can benefit from them.
The exercise forms part of ongoing efforts to promote environmental sustainability and encourage active community participation in protecting the country’s natural resources.
