Born in Liberia Camp, a suburb of Accra, sprint sensation Thelma Davies is making headlines on home soil while proudly representing Liberia at the ongoing African Senior Athletics Championships in Ghana.
The talented sprinter delivered another impressive performance on Tuesday evening after storming to victory in Heat Five of the women’s 100 metres at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Legon, underlining her status as one of Liberia’s most exciting young athletics prospects.
Davies, whose athletics journey began in Ghana before switching allegiance to Liberia, continues to rise steadily on the continental and global stage. Her rapid development has attracted admiration across Africa, with many viewing her as a symbol of determination, resilience and ambition.
The youngster previously played a key role in Liberia’s women’s 4x100m relay team that secured a bronze medal at the 2024 African Championships in Douala, Cameroon. She also enhanced her growing reputation by reaching the semi-finals of the women’s 100m at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, competing against some of the world’s elite sprinters.
