The Government of Ghana has urged citizens to exercise caution and remain vigilant to avoid falling victim to human trafficking.
This warning follows the rescue and repatriation of 28 Ghanaian nationals, mostly young people, who were trapped in a sophisticated human trafficking network in Côte d’Ivoire. The victims were safely returned to Ghana on Sunday, 10th May 2026, after a successful operation led by security operatives and officials from the Ghanaian Embassy in Abidjan, according to a statement from the Ministry of Energy.
The rescued individuals are now in Ghana and are cooperating with authorities to aid further investigations. The government also commended Ivorian authorities for their effective collaboration and intelligence-sharing in the operation.
“Ghanaians are hereby advised to be extra vigilant and avoid becoming victims of such trafficking schemes,” the statement emphasized.
