ATWIMA MPONUA DISTRICT – The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Mponua, Hon. Ibrahim Issahak, accompanied by the District Coordinating Director, toured several examination centers today to motivate candidates sitting for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

The nationwide exercise commenced on Monday, May 4, with candidates sitting for English Language and Religious and Moral Education (RME). The examination is scheduled to conclude on Friday, May 8.
The tour covered several centers, including Akonkye JHS, Mpasatia, Adobra, Kentenkyere, and others within the 13 centers in the district.

During his interaction with the students, the DCE urged them to remain calm, focused, and confident. He advised the candidates to rely strictly on what they had been taught and to avoid any form of examination malpractice, emphasizing that true success is born of hard work and discipline.

”This is your moment to demonstrate the knowledge and discipline you have acquired over the years. Trust in your preparation, and you will make this district proud,” the DCE stated.

He further encouraged them to read every question carefully before attempting an answer and wished them excellence on behalf of the District Assembly.

In a major boost to student morale, the DCE pledged that the District Assembly would provide full scholarship support to any student who obtains a “Grade One” (Distinction) in all subjects. This support is designed to help top performers secure admission to their preferred Senior High Schools.

With Persons with Disabilities, the DCE assures Assembly support to aid them in furthering their education or any apprenticeship program

To further motivate the candidates, the DCE presented refreshments, including bottled water, drinks, and biscuits, to the students at the various centers.

A total of 3,068 candidates are participating in this year’s examination across 13 centers in the district. The breakdown includes,1,554 Male candidates,1,514 Female candidates, and a few physically challenged candidates.

The DCE noted that the BECE is no different from the internal mock examinations the students had already cleared, expressing full confidence in their ability to excel.

Head of Supervisor for Akonkye JHS, Mr. James Owusu Adu Buffour, cautioned the students against copying or any malpractice, warning that such actions could lead to the total cancellation of their results.
