Sammi Awuku, former Director-General of the National Lottery Authority and current Member of Parliament for Akuapem North, has revealed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will be implementing significant changes to its political strategy as it gears up for the 2028 general elections. Speaking on the AM Show on April 22, Awuku, who previously served as the NPP’s National Organiser, shared that the party is in a phase of reflection and reorganisation following the 2024 elections. The focus will be on rebuilding trust, strengthening internal structures, and improving engagement with the electorate.
“There will be a strategic shift to ensure victory in 2028,” he said.
Awuku explained that the NPP’s new direction would emphasize deeper grassroots mobilisation, enhanced communication strategies, and sustained interaction with party members, industry stakeholders, and the wider public. He highlighted the party’s goal of becoming more closely integrated with local communities to better understand their challenges, ensuring that its policies align with the needs and realities of the people.
“Dr. Bawumia is actively engaging with people to grasp their concerns and understand their daily lives,” he added.
The restructured approach, according to Awuku, will also require stronger internal coordination to maintain alignment among communicators, organisers, and leadership in delivering consistent messages. He stressed that the key to political success in 2028 would be discipline, effective mobilisation, and a united party structure.
The NPP is currently reviewing its previous campaign strategies and adopting fresh methods aimed at improving voter engagement and organisational efficiency. “The focus is on listening more, engaging more, and organising better,” Awuku concluded, expressing confidence in the party’s ability to reposition itself for the upcoming election.
