The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has confirmed that Ghana is set to appoint a new head coach for the Black Stars, with an official announcement expected today, April 13, 2026.

Adams explained that the selection process is nearly complete, with only a few remaining consultations before a final decision is made. Authorities have been in discussions with shortlisted candidates to ensure the best choice for the role.

“Hopefully, if we don’t announce the coach this weekend, we will be able to do so by Monday. We’ve made significant progress, and only a few more talks remain,” Adams said.

The appointment comes after the Ghana Football Association (GFA) intensified efforts to find a successor following Otto Addo’s departure. The GFA’s Executive Committee is said to have been reviewing a shortlist of three candidates.

Speaking on Channel One TV on Sunday, April 12, Adams added that once a decision is made, the GFA will engage with the government to finalize the necessary arrangements.

The new coach will be tasked with stabilizing the team and improving performance after recent inconsistent results, with a focus on preparations for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Reports suggest the shortlist includes experienced international managers such as Carlos Queiroz, Fernando Santos, Paulo Bento, and Walid Regragui.
