Seven persons have been arrested by the Northern Regional Special Operations Team of the police during an anti-drug operation carried out in parts of the Tamale metropolis.
The operation, which took place on March 17, 2026, at about 9:30pm was led by Superintendent John Danso and Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rashid Jeremiah. A total of thirty-three personnel participated in the exercise aimed at clamping down on drug peddling in the area.
According to a situational report, the team first moved to Sakasaka, where four suspects Haruna Abubakar, 24; Hadri Kadri, 27; Hassan Musah, 30; and Issah Abdul Wadud, 30 were arrested in possession of substances suspected to be narcotic drugs.
The team later extended the operation to the World K area, where three more suspects were apprehended. They are Osman Ayew, 21; Fabiola Chiradan, 25; and Adam Muazu, 26.
All seven suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations.
The police say the operation forms part of sustained efforts to combat the sale and use of illegal drugs within the Tamale metropolis.
