Afenyo-Markin calls for removal of AI aptitude tests for security recruitment
The Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has called for the removal of the artificial intelligence (AI) aptitude tests currently used in the recruitment process for Ghana’s security agencies, citing significant technical challenges faced by applicants.
“I support AI and IT, but you cannot expect someone from Pusiga or Bunkurugu, who has no prior knowledge of IT, to take an aptitude test based on AI. If they don’t have the necessary resources, they fail,” he said.
Afenyo-Markin stressed that this issue should not be politicized, describing it as a structural problem that requires immediate attention from the relevant ministry.
“This is a serious system challenge that the ministry needs to address properly because it’s us, the MPs, who are carrying the burden,” he added.
He further explained that many applicants are forced to pay for internet café services to complete the tests, only to encounter technical difficulties that hinder their progress.
He appealed to the government to reassess the current recruitment method to ensure the process remains fair and accessible to all eligible candidates.
