Hon. Helen Adjoa Ntoso, MP for Krachi West, has emphasized the importance of accelerating progress towards gender equity and empowerment of women and girls in Ghana, as the country prepares to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8.

However, she acknowledged persistent challenges, including limited access to education, economic opportunities, and protection from violence. “Gender equity is not a women’s issue alone, it’s a national development imperative,” Hon. Ntoso stressed.
She called on Parliament to champion bold actions, including legislative reforms, funding for programs tackling gender-based violence, and ensuring accountability for inclusive policies.
The Legislature, has commended women in public office for their leadership and resilience.
The Member highlighted the achievements of Dr. Clara Kolaga Berry Kesati, the first woman to graduate with a PhD in Law from the University of Ghana School of Law.
“Her success showcases brilliance, resilience, and education that will inspire countless young Ghanaian girls to pursue their dreams without limits,” She said.
She emphasized that gender equity is a strategic investment in Ghana’s future and called for collective action to amplify voices, dismantle barriers, and drive progress.
