Ashanti Regional Minister Advocates Policy-Driven Food Security Measures

Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has emphasized the importance of policy-driven food security, warning that neglecting it could destabilize the country. He made these remarks during a meeting with George Abradu-Otoo, CEO of NAFCO, on March 3, 2026, in Kumasi.

Abradu-Otoo is currently touring schools and agricultural facilities to strengthen food security. Dr. Amoakohene praised NAFCO’s role in the National Food Reserve Program but called for increased support for local farmers and improvements in food processing and safety.

In response, Abradu-Otoo pledged to secure additional funding, increase grain purchases, and expand storage facilities. He also visited Prempeh College, where the Headmaster commended NAFCO’s efforts in ensuring a reliable food supply.
