I am committed to motivating my health workers to provide quality healthcare service – Dormaa Central Municipal Health Director

The Dormaa Central Municipal Health Director, Mr. Daniel Konka, has expressed his unwavering commitment to supporting and motivating his staff to achieve optimal performance in the provision of quality healthcare services.
During an interview with GIFTs News at the 2025 Annual Performance Review meeting and Health Workers Awards held at the Dormaa Central Health Directorate, Mr. Konka emphasized that the driving force behind their dedication is the goal of achieving universal health coverage by 2030. He underscored that, to attain this objective, health workers must be motivated, encouraged, and supported, as they are the engine of health service delivery.
Regarding the awards scheme, which is being implemented for the first time in the Municipal Health Directorate’s History, Mr. Konka noted that motivated health workers are crucial for ensuring quality healthcare, hence the decision to establish an annual Health Workers Awards Scheme to inspire staff to excel in their duties.
The awards categories included the Overall Best Health Worker, who received a 43-inch television set, Yawkrom/KKK CHPs, which was recognized as the Best Health Facility and awarded a double-decker fridge, along with 16 other award categories. The winners received various incentives such as standing fans, 32-inch television sets, citations, table-top fridges, burners, certificates, and plaques, all aimed at motivating workers and facility managers to deliver exceptional quality healthcare services.
Mr. Daniel Konka further stated that the review demonstrated their exceptional performance across all evaluated areas, with the directorate receiving a score of 4.2 out of 5. This marks an improvement from their previous score of 4.1 in 2024, indicating a slight enhancement in their services. He attributed their success to factors such as motivation, leadership qualities, support visits, and the provision of feedback, all of which have significantly contributed to the achievements of the Directorate.
Some of the award winners expressed their appreciation to the Health Director for implementing such an innovative initiative. They remarked that the awards program will significantly encourage both themselves and other staff members to strive for excellence, with the aim of being acknowledged in the forthcoming annual review and awards meetings.
