Vice president Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang addressed the first Annual National Forum on Women in Government and Media under the theme “Leadership, Visibility and Public Trust,” calling for reflection, responsibility, and a renewed commitment to democratic governance.

In her address, the Vice President highlighted the need for women to reflect on their personal journeys while remaining conscious of the many young women who look up to them as symbols of opportunity and progress. She emphasized that leadership goes beyond official positions, often beginning with simple but meaningful actions such as listening, mentoring, and offering encouragement.

She also stressed the crucial role of the media in shaping public consciousness, noting that visibility influences power and guides national conversations, while leadership comes with lasting responsibility. According to her, women in journalism and public service play a vital role in setting standards, promoting accountability, and amplifying credible voices. She described the media as a classroom for society, helping to define benchmarks for integrity and public discourse.

The Vice President further urged women to believe in their capabilities, stating that institutions that promote women’s participation in decision-making become stronger, more inclusive, and more effective. She encouraged women in public office and journalism to embrace their responsibility in strengthening democratic governance and building public trust.
