I nearly collapsed after seeing pictures of my son being shot dead – Father of One of the Burkina Faso shooting victims

The recent terrorist attack on Ghanaian tomato traders in Titao, Burkina Faso, which resulted in the tragic loss of eight traders, included among the victims a resident of Dormaa Ahenkro-Agyemankro, known as Abu Sadick (Kakai).
His father, Mr. Musah Konney, accompanied by several family members and traditional leaders from Agyemankrom, made an official visit to inform the Dormaa Central Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Dominic Adoma Ameyaw about the unfortunate situation.
During this visit, Mr. Musah Konney emotionally recounted the anguish he experienced upon learning of his son’s untimely passing. He described almost collapsing when he received images of his son, and explained that he was only able to steady himself by leaning against a building wall. He emphasized the profound grief that he and his family have been enduring. He also mentioned that the deceased, Abu Sadick, is survived by a pregnant wife who is nearing her due date of delivery.
Mr. Konney urged the Government of Ghana to collaborate with the Government of Burkina Faso to address the terrorist attacks, ensuring peace and justice prevail between the two neighboring countries. He further expressed that any governmental support for his late son’s funeral would be deeply appreciated.
The MCE, Hon. Dominic Adoma Ameyaw, while offering condolences to the family, took the opportunity to advise Ghanaians to exercise caution when selecting countries for residential and business purposes. He emphasized the importance of being prudent when considering relocation to countries that may not enjoy stable peace, citing Burkina Faso as an example of a nation that has recently struggled to maintain peace and order.
He characterized the shooting incident as an unfortunate event occurring between two African countries. He further expressed confidence in the Foreign Affairs Minister and the government to implement measures to address this troubling situation, thereby preventing future occurrences and ensuring the maintenance of peaceful coexistence between the two neighboring nations.
Nana Kofi Yeboah, the Abakomahene of Agyemankrom, also urged the government to adequately equip the nation’s security services to effectively counter potential border attacks, given Ghana’s proximity to other African countries.
Additionally, he has appealed to the traditional leaders of Dormaa Ahenkro and the local security forces to enhance their surveillance efforts, particularly as Agyemankrom shares a border with the Ivory Coast. The community is deeply concerned about the events that transpired with their fellow Ghanaians in relation to terrorist activities, and they believe that the Ghanaian security services must be sufficiently equipped to repel any groups attempting to breach the country’s borders.
